ESSENTIAL QUESTION: Why follow a process when completing a close reading of text?
We reviewed the course outline and spoke briefly about class expectations.
Learners read Galsworthy's "The Japanese Quince" (see the link at the left) and wrote a one-sentence summary of plot in parallel form. We reviewed learners' contributions before proceeding with a closer reading of the short story. Learners worked in groups to discuss character.
