ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How do we ensure that literature brings us delight?
In pairs, learners shared their verbal-visual essays and discussed one thing they's like me (Ms. Ignacio) to notice.
I gave some notes on the differences between Poetry & Prose (see the link to the left), and learners worked in triads to write their own short pieces of poetry, using only the letters in the two words: "ping" and "pong." Learners put the pieces up on the board and then read the pieces out loud. They were all fantastic!
Learners then added titles to their poetic pieces.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE NOTES: "babble" (words, sounds), "doodle" (form, imagery)
Learner continued working in groups of three. They read together and began to annotate and make notes on Stephens's "The Shell" (see the link to the left).
PRACTISE: Create a shared document and contribute to it your thoughts on "The Shell." Post to the digital whiteboard the link to your shared document.
NEXT CLASS: Sound & Image, euphony, cacophony, dissonance
